Red Door Studios is run by Elizabeth Clough, a designer, artist and maker.
She moved to London from the Yorkshire Dales and worked as a freelance artist for several years, pursuing an interest in the role of arts in our communities, specifically as a part of celebrations, Folk culture and ritual. In 2013 She set up a community focused, artist led project space at Red Door Studios E6, and through collaborations with local artists, community groups, councils and arts organisations has built a diverse programme of grassroots activity there.
In order to re-focus on her personal practice, she attended The Royal Drawing School and took on an apprenticeship with internationally acclaimed Silversmith Jocelyn Burton. This deepened her knowledge of many traditional and contemporary making techniques and gave great insight into a community of craftsmen whose skills are increasingly rare, further fuelling her interest in the relationship humans have with the act of making.
She has exhibited nationally and internationally and is currently working on a series of small works on paper and a collection of jewellery pieces.
She also collaborates with Tim Hunkin
